What to do when you discover your kids are trashing (or not eating) their lunch..

First up, don’t panic! At Smash we have lots of guys in white coats working on the problem - our most recent and exciting solution is to make the bland lunch box exciting and functional so kids will demand you make them lunch. In fact, reports so far state kids now want to be a part of the lunch building process because of the lunchbox.

The other solution can involve the selection of foods going into the Nude Food Lunchbox. Try to make it interesting and keep the variety coming. Here are some tips:

  • Alternate the use of sliced bread, rolls, pita, bagels and try to sneak in the occasional whole-grain or whole-meal stuff.
  • Use all the compartments in their NUDE FOOD MOVERS Lunchbox, and include at least 1 to 2 pieces of fruit and vegetables changing this daily. For example, try carrot sticks, chopped strawberries blueberries or grapes, celery and cherry tomatoes.
  • Our coloured pods are great for foods such as dips, philly cheese, chopped cheese cubes and other accompaniments to veggie sticks or crackers. The pods are great for decanting bulk yoghurt into too.
  • Our “sandwich seatbelt” can be used to separate two different sandwiches. Try ham and salad in one, and how about vegemite and cheese in the other.
  • Give them the occasional special treat like chips or chocolate. Some healthier alternatives could be popcorn, dried fruit or pretzels. Just remember, try to not give the special treats every day.

We’re loading some Lunch Recipe ideas into our Lunch Ideas section, so have a look at some ideas you can adopt. On top of this, we’re currently running a program to find out how people are using our NUDE FOOD MOVERS Lunchbox. You can find it at www.liftthelid.com.au. Feel free to jump on there to get some ideas and see how others are filling their NUDE FOOD MOVER Lunchbox. Good luck !

Michelle says I loved the idea of the cool skins and the lunch box, with all the compartments. However they were not tuff enough for my family. My 7 year old daughters lasted a week and one of the clips broke off and she had trouble getting it out of the skin at lunch time. My 4 yr olds lasted abit longer (only being used two days a week). But evenually also broke same clip came off. They are really not rough children. I still love the idea, I am a working mother of 3 and a midwife so healthly "nude" food is important to me. but I need the containers to be a bit more hardy. We are currently all using the smash containers with the rubber conners finding them a bit tougher. Thanks

Lee Schaeche-Odine says I'm a Mum to a 7 year old Boy Joel who has Cystic Fibrosis. I thoroughly recommend the Lunch Boxes to all CF Mums!! Hygiene plays a major part in CF care and the Meal Box is just great because we can use the little salad dressing container to put medication in! Ingenius!! The Large Lunch Box is by far THE most superior lunch box I've ever come across. I can pack 3 meals in it! A Sandwich and a Snack in the middle, a serve of Yoghurt and/or a Pudding in the Round Containers or put Joel's medication in the other tub and his juicebox in the other end. The Snack Tubes are ideal for Toddlers! You could put measured powder formula in them and they're big enough for CF Mums to add powdered additives like Polyjoule too!. You could have Celery and Carrot Sticks in one section and Dip or Cream Cheese for the added Fat in another. Just brilliant! Thankyou Smash Enterprises! I'll certainly be adding you to my Facebook Page!! ;o)
